RULES & REGULATIONS
The safety and security of our students is the prime concern and responsibility of Sri Ramanuja Vidya Mandir. This document is implemented to regulate, preserve and protect the individual rights of learner and the institute. The primary aim of this document is to correct unacceptable conduct and behaviour rather than to punish. Any behaviour by a learner that deprives his/ her fellow learners of the opportunity of quality education or prevents an educator from giving quality education will be seen as unacceptable behaviour and as a transgression of the
institute rules and regulations. Every effort will be made to correct the behaviour that had disrupted the balance between right and wrong in the institute environment.
Sri Ramanuja Vidya Mandir aims to establish a disciplined and purposeful academic environment where quality teaching can take place and enables them to function successfully. Parents or guardians, learners, teachers and Institute management are jointly responsible for ensuring a quality education and system. The following are guidelines for students and parents at Sri Ramanuja Vidya Mandir in terms of rules to be observed and behaviour that is acceptable. This code of conduct is based upon self-discipline, good behaviour both in and out of class, smart appearance, punctuality, respect and consideration for others and their property, politeness and good manners, honesty and tolerance. Once student enters the institute premises he/ she is under the supervision of the institute. The student shall comply with the institute rules and regulations at all times. All students must abide by a code of conduct. Hence, the rules and regulations are formulated and updated to create a sanctifying ambience. It is essential that all students, their parents/ guardians, teachers, support staff and administrators to understand and abide by the Code of Conduct.
DRESS CODE
- At Sri Ramanuja, student is always dressed to a standard that upholds the ethics of the institute.
- Learners are expected to follow the institute dress code and on non-institute days or any special occasion
the student have the privilege to have casual attire.
- Boys are not allowed to wear T-shirts, earrings or do any form of body piercing.
- Girls are not allowed to wear skirts, sleeveless wear, T-shirts. Large dangling earrings, tattoos, long nails
and nail polish for girls are forbidden. Only one pair of small stud earrings is permitted. Long hair must be
tied back with white, black or navy-blue ribbons or elastic bands.
- Students must wear or carry always student identification card during the institute.
- Students are required to pay special attention to the combing of their hair and the tucking in of shirts.
Boy students must keep their hair short.
- Students should not wear stingy clothes.
- Hair must be neat and well-groomed at all times. No extremes of style will be allowed. Long hair,
Unnatural colouring of hair or exotic hairstyles is forbidden.
- A student must be considerate and polite at all times, including outside the institute especially when student is a representative of Sri Ramanuja Vidya Mandir.
GENERAL CONDUCT
Every educator is responsible for discipline at all times at institute and at institute related activities. Educators have the full authority and the responsibility to correct the behaviour of learners whenever such correction is
necessary. In order to maintain an ambience, conducive to a safe and comfortable education, discipline policies require students who violate minimal standards to be referred for disciplinary actions. These actions may include suspension, expulsion, and/ or police referral as deemed appropriate.
Discipline is the law of nature. Inculcating discipline amongst children is the most significant aspect of education.
Parents, too, must co-operate with the institute in observing these norms:
DO'S
Students are to be respectful in attitude and manner to people and property.
Attend institute regularly and punctually. Irregular attendance, unjustified or unexplained absence from
institute, habitual late coming, leaving the institute premises without permission, disobedience and any type of unruly and objectionable behaviour are considered to be grave acts of indiscipline on the part of a student which can lead to his/ her permanent expulsion from the institute.
- Allow every other learner the right and opportunity to learn.
- Refrain from any action that might disrupt a class or jeopardise learning.
- Use every opportunity to learn from your teachers, fellow learners.
- Do home based assignments to the best of your ability.
- Do your best each day, and to improve by learning from mistakes and using them to update yourself.
- Refrain from any action which might bring discredit to the institute and consequently bring discredit to yourself and your family as part of the institute.
- Make maximum use of the facilities and human resources in the institute and take off to premium
undergraduate platform and to display respect for those facilities.
- Be loyal to the instiute and display loyalty in my uniform, behaviour and speech.
- Uphold the qualities of truth, motivation, discipline and hard work.
- Strive to develop emotionally, socially, spiritually and academically in terms of the opportunities.
- Show respect to all people's rights, equality and dignity.
DON'TS
- Wearing coloured spectacles, jewellery, body ornaments or unapproved badges.
- Bringing improper reading or audio-visual material or playing cards.
- Bringing any electronic (except watch or calculator), photographic or recording device to institute.
- Using a mobile phone in the institute or during an organised institute activity; to send or to receive calls,
text messages or emails; to check messages or to take pictures or to play games.
- Inviting outsiders to institute without permission.
- They should not write, scratch or engrave graffiti on desks, chairs and other surfaces. Making the
washrooms dirty or messy is forbidden.
- Electronic gadgets like mobiles, tabs, smart watches etc are strictly prohibited in the institute premises
what so ever may be the reason. The mobile will be returned to the parent or guardian. On the
second occasion, the mobile telephone will be not be returned to the parent or guardian.
- Students are expected to take proper care of the institute property. It is for their convenience. They
should not break any item of furniture and fixtures within the institute. They should not write, scratch
or engrave graffiti on desks, chairs and other surfaces.
- They should not damage or remove things belonging to other students.
- If a student causing damage to the institute property is identified, he/ she will be charged with a fine.
- In the event of collective damage to institute property in a classroom, the entire class occupying that
classroom will have to bear the cost of damages.
EXAMINATION CONDUCT
- Any kind of copying or cheating in any test or examination will affect the child's intrinsic attitude.
We expect to be honest, righteous under all situations.
- Students are expected to audit weekly performance and to become more competent to face the
hyper competitive world.
- Students must keep track of negative marking to improve their performance.
- Honestly admitting the weekly and monthly performance to the parents and teachers is expected.
CLASSROOM CONDUCT
- Students must extend their co-operation to the best of their ability to maintain the peaceful, friendly
and happy atmosphere of the institute which is conducive to learning.
- Respecting fellow students and staff, Refinement of manners, habits of obedience, punctuality
and neatness in person and dress in the classroom are expected at all time.
- Students should always pay attention in class, and follow all instructions given by their subject
experts and should maintain enquiry spirit during learning.
- It is mandatory for the students to use English language at all times with each other and with teachers inside and outside the classroom. This includes the journey to and from institute, on the
institute bus and all extra-curricular activities.
- Use good communication with both staff and other students to handle problems with your studies.
- If an issue occurs, handle it yourself with good communication, or if you need help, ask your teacher.
- Disruptions to the educational process with obscene actions, the use of obscene words or gestures,
being harsh, rude and misbehaviour in the classroom, the use of ethnically derogatory statements is
condemned. Running in corridors or up and down stairways is forbidden.
- Students who damage the institute property will be held responsible for the damage and will be
expected to pay for it at the current market price of the property.
- No eating in class room is allowed except in the lunch session. Bringing egg and non-veg food to the
institute premises is strictly prohibited.
- Write, draw or put any stickers or labels on walls, blackboards, graph boards, desks or chairs is an
offense and will be fined.
- Touch or tampering any air-conditioners, electrical appliances, switches or teaching aids unless
instructed by the teacher.
- Chronic misbehaviour inside or outside the classroom or during institute activities will not be
tolerated and may result in expulsion from institute.
- Learners must greet staff and visitors, and offer assistance where appropriate.
ATTENDANCE
- Any student who is absent for more than one day because of sickness should bring a medical certificate on his return.
- On returning to colllege after absence for any length of time, a student should bring back a letter
from his parent giving the inclusive dates of the period of absence and the reasons.
- A student who becomes sick and wishes to go home should go to the Institute Office and obtain an
'Permission Slip', to be signed by the Principal.
- Any student who ceases to attend the institute must ask his parent/ guardian to inform the institute
in writing as soon as possible.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS
- Ensure that your child attends institute regularly and inform the institute timeously of child's absence
See that the child adheres to institute rules, which includes the dress code and conduct.
- See that your child always treats everyone with proper respect and dignity.
- Attend institute functions and parent meetings.
- See that the institute fees paid regularly.
- Refrain from criticising or undermining a teacher in front of any learner which will result in a
negative attitude and non-productivity.
- Any issue, how trivial it may seem, must be brought to the Management's attention, investigated
and dealt with in a dignified manner.
- Encourage the student the opportunity to accept the responsibility of building his career by actively
participating in the learning process.
- Build confidence in your child by assist and help your child in effective planning and inculcate good study habits and analytical skills.
- Provide an opportunity and engage your child to offer service at home and do work independently.
- Promote positive self-image in your child.
- Encourage the student to take the shelter of enlightened guidance of subject experts in the institute.
- Parents are requested to co-operate with the institute in enhancing effective education and all
round development of their child.
- Parents, guardian or other person are not allowed to meet the students or their teachers during
class hours without the permission of the Principal.
- Private tuition is strongly discouraged. Parents should note that students shouldn't be engaged for tuition.
- Written permission of the Principal is required for students leaving the institute premises during institute hours.
- The parents should understand that the responsibility of the institute staff ceases immediately
after the institute is over. They must ensure that their ward is safely escorted to the institute and on their return.
- Parents are requested not to take your ward home during institute hours, it disturbed the studies.
- However in genuine circumstances only the pupil can leave the premises with the permission of the principal.
- Parents are expected to discuss any issue with the management amicably and not to be harsh
and rebellious.
- Parents/ Guardians are not permitted to enter class rooms to meet their children or to seek
unscheduled interviews with teachers during institute hours. Prior appointment for meeting the staff
must necessarily be taken through institute official.
- In case of emergency, parents/ guardians must meet the Principal and adopt a course of action in
consultation with them.
- Any urgent message may be communicated at the institute reception telephonically. Phone
calls from parents for any teacher or student during the institute hours will not be entertained.
- No student and / or Parent shall indulge, participate, promote any type of agitation direct or indirect
protest, social media campaign etc with or without the help of Political parties, NGO's, associations,
forums, public atlarge or any other entity for their grievance or complaint, suggestions, demand,
opinion related to any and every institute matter and institute policies eg.
- Fees, timetable, expulsion, retention of student in a class, disciplinary action by the institute against
student, staff or parent. Any students and / or parents found indulging in the same will be expelled
permanently from the Institute by issuing report card, TC with immediate effect without assigning
any reason, explanation what so ever. The decision of the Institute management shall be final and
binding to all the stakeholders.
- We expect parents and guardians to be cordial and polite with the staff of the institute even in the
most taxing situations.
Every institute staff member will strive to create a positive, safe environment that encourages and supports student success. Underlying causes for misbehavior will be explored, and when possible, positive
redirection will occur and acceptable alternative behaviors will be taught. Such redirection may involve a
collaborative effort of institute, and parents and students.
In line with the principles and spirit of the code of conduct, the management and educators have the right to announce rules verbally on an ad-hoc basis or otherwise, as necessitated by circumstances. The final decision with regards to such rules will rest with management. A distinction is drawn between minor offences, serious offences (which may lead to suspension and/ or expulsion) and academic offences. In case of minor offences, corrective measures will be taken. Serious offences, which may also be described as serious misconduct may lead to suspension. Progressive discipline utilizing corrective strategies that consider the student's age, exceptionality, previous conduct, probability of a recurring violation, intent, attitude, and severity of the offense shall be utilized in all instances
